-Expression—how you feel about different topics

-A healthy way to express what you’re going through

-Theme (main purpose or main idea—the point you’re trying to get across. Can have one or multiple themes)

-Imagination

-Figurative language

-Fluid form of writing

-Stanzas (can be like paragraphs)

-Explanation of feelings or emotions

-Can be more general or more personal

-Motifs (things recurring or repeating throughout a poem)

-rhyming (sometimes)

-Cat in the Hat (basic form of rhyming)

-Shakespeare (the canon)

-Can be partial rhymes

-alliteration

-repetition of syllables
